My new toy

Am sold. Bought my first mac today. Decided to buy the new 13-inch Macbook. I was pretty ecstatic leading up to the purchase. However, I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be after my credit card was swipped. I explained my rollercoaster emotions to one person as such, "It's like being pregnant. I've heard that leading up to labour, a pregnant woman will feel pretty excited about the arrival of her new born child. However, when the child actually arrives, she wouldn't be as excited as she imagined."

"So you're experiencing post natal depression?"

"Yeah"

I'm pretty sure I'll bounce back up soon =) It's pretty swanky, its slightly over 2kgs, the entire touchpad is made of glass...the tech specs? Don't know. Who cares. As long as it looks good right? =D Kidding. The new entry level MacBook has a graphics card installed, the processor is slightly faster than the old one and the casing is made from one solid piece of aluminium which makes it more durable.

Getting pretty excited again =)

The story of my computer and...me - Part II

Sigh. As of today, there is a Part II.

Again, the story begins the same way with my SOS call to Kenneth. I think his number should be on speed dial now.

For some reason, (again not my fault, seriously) my laptop screen goes blank a few minutes after my computer starts up. If you look at the screen from an angle, you can sort of see words and picture on it. That means that the monitor screen light is not working!!! Restarted my computer a few times but to no avail.

Kenneth came with raindrops in his hair. It was drizzling outside. Poor thing :P I owe him a gazillion more dinners. He spent a good two hours staring at my laptop, trying every trick in his book. Nearing the end of the two hours, all hope in me was washed out. If he cant fix it, then it cant be fixed. I called dad to deliver the bad news.

My parents and I spoke on the phone for a good 10 minutes discussing laptops and its prices while Kenneth watched on. I wondered why he stopped working on my laptop. Having known him for over a decade, I know he is not one that gives up easily.

When I ended the call, Kenneth said, "By the way, your laptop is fixed"

"What? Don't kid around! Serious? How? No way!" I jumped up excitedly and quickly rushed to check out my laptop.

Lo and behold. It was fixed! After 2 hours! Apparently the monitor was overworked or something (Ask ken, he would explain it more eloquently I'm sure). Therefore, the screen went blank. He changed some settings on my computer and ta-da, it worked like before!

Another IT drama. God, no more! Save me.

p/s: my SD card died on me yesterday.

pps: My lecturer was lenient and she told me I wont be penalised for the late submission =)
